Montreal's hottest new restaurant expands its offerings! Kamúy is now serving a Pan-Caribbean lunch and brunch!

Montreal, September 16, 2020 - From now on, lunchtime in the Quartier des spectacles will be even tastier as the city's culinary coup de cœur, Kamúy, serves up delectable lunch dishes as well as a festive weekend brunch. With Kamúy, chef Paul Toussaint continues to forge a reputation as one of the bravest, most creative and accomplished restaurateurs in the country. Since opening a month ago - and during the pandemic, no less! -his restaurant has come highly recommended (and for good reason) by all those who have had the good fortune to dine there.

To underline the restaurant's current success, Chef Paul announces that lunch service will now be offered Wednesday to Friday at Kamúy, in addition to the legendary Bagatelle brunch every Saturday and Sunday until 3 pm. A tapas menu will also be served daily from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. For those who haven't yet had the chance to experience the jubilant excitement of Chef Paul's Bagatelle brunch, an eye-opening experience awaits!

Kamúy 's lunch menu will offer quick service and share the same philosophy as the evening menu, while the selection of dishes for brunch will be new and impressive! While respecting the tradition of serving fresh island ingredients with a variety of flavors and influences, the Bagatelle brunch will include favorites like the Plátano maduro y guayaba, a classic sure to please those craving something sweet with a wonderful blend of plantain and guava. Also on the menu is Traditionnel, a Haitian staple featuring eggs, half a plantain banana, shredded griot, avocado puree and refried beans. It wouldn't be a properly Caribbean offering without a delicious curry, and Chef Paul's Vegetarian Curry, accompanied by market vegetables and fresh cassave (traditional Haitian flatbread), is a revealing dish that will disappoint no one. There's also Joumou Soup, a lactose- and gluten-free soup featuring a delicate combination of turban squash, root vegetables, pasta and beef. Of course, for those with a sweet tooth, there's the famous Kamúy crepe, a chocolate-filled crepe with cocoa and rum, topped with English sauce, cinnamon, passion fruit and mango - a dreamy bite!

Chef Paul and his team hail from the four corners of the islands (and beyond), and the menu reflects all these origins, combining fine traditional French cuisine, the comfort of Quebecois snack bars and the influences of the different cultures of the communities that have made Montreal their home.

Located in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles, Kamúy boasts a large outdoor terrace with several patio heaters, allowing customers to dine al fresco during the autumn season. Kamúy is also a cultural space in which art and music play an important role. Music has always played an important role in Chef Paul's restaurants. In addition to the eclectic soundtrack that diners can hear every day in the restaurant, the festive atmosphere intensifies at brunch, with music at the heart of the experience, just like in the Caribbean. During evening service, a diverse mix of reggae, bachata, merengue, twoubadou, jazz, salsa and many other musical genres enliven the dining room.

The Kamúy team includes artistic director and resident artist Oski, architect-designer Sophie Buteau (a young Haitian from New York who designed the space), photographer Darwin Doleyres, sculptors Remy-Jn-Eddy aka Franco and Normand Hamel, graphic designer Williamson Dulce, dining room manager Audrey Lemay, Maître d'hôtel Vanessa Vachon, cocktail mistress Valérie Chagnon, Paul's fellow chefs, chef Ana Castillo (originally from Colombia) and chef Vincent (originally from Guadeloupe), and finally his long-time collaborator, project consultant Carla Beauvais.

Kamúy is located at 1485, rue Jeanne-Mance, in the former Taverne F, right next to the Musée d'art contemporain at the Place des festivals. Customers will often be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of strolling performances or concerts offered by the City of Montreal.
